Readers Cup Team Ready to Go!

The Chevallum State School Readers Cup team for 2024 has been announced. This year our team will comprise Flynn, Charlotte, Arlo and Mia.

Again, this year we had many students trying out for the team. Due to our strong reading culture, we are fortunate to be able to form a great team of students who love reading and will enter into the spirit of the challenge.

Thank you to all the students who tried out for the team. Year 5 students are encouraged to try again next year and those in Yr. 6 should consider trying out for High School Readers Cup in 2025.

The Regional Readers Cup will take place on 11th June, at Immanuel Lutheran College and our team will join around 30 state and private schools in taking on the Readers Cup challenge. The Guest Author for the morning will be Peter Carnavas, an award-winning Sunshine Coast based writer.

Once again, we thank the families of Chevallum for growing great readers.

What is Readers Cup?

Readers Cup is organised by the Qld Branch of the Children’s Book Council of Australia. It is a state wide competition for young readers. Teams of students read a set of books and then compete with other teams to answer quiz questions about the books. Teams successful at Regional events go on to the State Readers Cup Final in Term 4, which is held in Brisbane.

Readers Cup competitions challenge students to read widely, work collaboratively in a team and continue developing a love of reading. It allows readers to compete at a regional and state level and to meet other students with a shared passion for literature.
