ABC TV TO FEATURE WENDY RUSSELL AND THE RECORDER PROGRAM

An ABC TV producer, Ange Field has contacted Wendy Russell to seek permission to film a story about Mrs Russell and the recorder enrichment program being offered at Chevallum State School.

As part of the process to produce the story for the ABC, Mrs Russell and a few recorder players were interviewed. Some recorder lessons, rehearsals and performances were also filmed as part of the story’s content. The story may feature as part of the ABC Classic 100 in concert with the MSO television broadcast happening at the end of June.

SUCCESSFUL P&C CAREGIVERS’ STALL

Congratulations to our P&C for organising and running our first ever, Caregivers Stall. The stall was very well patronised on both Thursday afternoon and Friday morning by our Prep-Year 6 students.

There was an array of special gifts to purchase from recipe books, handmade soaps, chocolates and cookies with special iced messages. Thank you to the parent volunteers for your generous donation of goods and time. A special thank you to our P&C for conceptualising the idea and bringing this caring event to fruition!! It was a delight to see the ‘intense and well planned’ decision making each student had to make as they selected something special for their special someone in the life.

PREP 2023 ENROLMENT – URGENT NOTICE !

We are about to confirm Prep enrolments for 2024. Our numbers are already approaching the quota for 2024 but are now double checking these enrolment requests to verify if they are still current.

If you are an existing parent at Chevallum State School and have not officially enrolled your Prep child for 2024 (i.e. placed their individual enrolment form into the office) you must contact the office immediately.

EXTRA CURRICULAR UPDATE

High School Transition Visits

Both Nambour State College and Burnside State High School visited Chevallum State School on Tuesday 9 May. Representatives from each high school presented Year 7 orientation information to our 6 students as part of our high school transition program. Our Year 6 students were provided with information on the high school programs on offer, high school expectations and the high school transition process.

Family K Ginger Factory & Eumundi Market Excursion

Family K (Prep/Year 1) explored the Ginger Factory and Eumundi Market looking for real-life links to their Unit of Learning – ‘Country Shin Dig’. Through these shared experiences students developed an understanding of how some of our local food is grown, produced and presented in their local community.

At the Ginger Factory they learnt about bees, how honey is made and how important bees are to our ecosystem.

Kind Regards, Linda Short (Principal)
