The Student Leader Investiture Parade date was held on Thursday 13 February in the Lyn Winch Hall at 9:00am. The guests of honour were Mrs Jan Lawton and Ken Grant, from the Rotary Club, Mr. Marty Hunt, our elected member of our State Electorate of Nicklin and Kellie Jarrett, our P&C President.

During this formal ceremony, our Year 6 leaders signed their student leadership contracts and received their badges.  We also welcomed two 'Past' leaders from our 2024 cohort, Stella and Nathan who spoke to the 2025 students.
Two 'Future' Leaders, Kirra and Sorren, had the privilege of opening and closing the parade.

A morning tea with Year 6 parents and students followed the formal proceedings.

The 2025 program for leadership started at the end of last year where the now, Year 6 leaders spent a challenging leadership day, led by Mr Jono Foley, his staff (Sunday Creek Environmental Education Centre) and our Chevallum teachers. The students built on their personal and emotional awareness whilst being reflective through a series of leadership and team building activities.

All of our 2025 Year 6 students will be seen as our school leaders and form portfolio teams to assist our elected school leaders to manage their portfolio. The following leadership positions in 2025 are:
  • Ambassadors (elected via voting process with students, peers and staff)
  • Sports Captains:
  • Indigenous Leaders
  • Cultural Leaders (with specific focus) and Portfolio Team
  • Cultural Leaders
  • Visual Arts Leaders
  • Recorder Leaders
  • Band Leaders
  • Strings Leaders
  • Choir and Performing Arts Leaders
  • Environmental Leaders and Portfolio Team
  • Library Leaders and Portfolio team
  • Early Act Executive and members
  • Mental Health First Aid Officers (Year 5 recruitment)
This term, we will continue to support that Leaders come in all sizes and shapes. Leadership is, above all, a set of recognisable behaviours that can be seen and heard by anyone at our school. All students will have an opportunity to reflect and develop individual goals for the year. Over the term the portfolio teams will continue to look at goal setting, perseverance and adaptability when working together.
