Welcome to all of our new families to Chevallum State School and welcome back to our current families.
New Chevallum families will quickly become familiar with our school routines, make new connections with other families and feel like an integral part of our school community.
Welcome Morning Tea
A small but dedicated group of Parent and Citizens (P&C) volunteers catered a morning tea for our new Chevallum parents. A coffee van was also generously organised by our P&C. It was a fantastic opportunity for parents to make new community connections. For many parents it was their first child to attend formal schooling. The gathering was the perfect time for parents to debrief and know that Chevallum State School is a very supportive community.
Fundraising
The P&C first fund raiser for the year is MARCH MONEY MADNESS. Start collecting those coins in readiness for tallying in each Family Group. More information to follow.
Uniform
Chevallum School takes pride in our uniform policy. We believe it creates a sense of belonging within our school community whilst being affordable for parents and practical for students. Our uniform policy has been endorsed by our P&C and our Uniform Shop runs as a P&C business. Please visit the Uniform section of the web page for our Dress Code document.
Chevallum is a sun safe school with a ‘no hat, no play’ policy.

2024 Student Leadership
The 2024 program for leadership is looking very exciting and will promote learning and leadership throughout the year. All of our 2024 Year 6 students will be seen as our school leaders and form teams to assist our elected school leaders to manage their portfolio. We will continue to have the following leadership positions to head up the leadership portfolios:
- Ambassadors (elected via voting process with students, peers and staff) – 8 students
- Sports Captains
- Indigenous Leaders
- Cultural Leaders
- Environmental Leaders
- Library Leaders
- Early Act Executive and members
- Mental Health First Aid Officers (Year 5 recruitment)
Using the student’s leadership applications, the Year 6 students will align with a portfolio. The portfolios will be the teams that drive the student leadership in our Chevallum community. This will support that Leaders come in all sizes and shapes. Leadership is, above all, a set of recognisable behaviours that can be seen and heard by anyone at our school.
I look forward to a wonderful year ahead for the Chevallum community of learners.
