Enhancement of our Early Years’ Sandpit

At the start of the year, the P&C provided funds through the Heritage Bank Grant to add a new shade cover over the large Early Years’ sandpit.

The sandpit play area was further enhanced recently with new steps, storage boxes and sand toys much to the delight of the Early Years students and staff. These amazing additions were also purchased through the same P&C grant funding.
A huge thank you to our P&C for their generosity.

Also thank you to Miss Cathie, Camele and Early Years’ staff for the careful selection and purchasing of these items. Our groundman, Heath, also needs a special mention with the building of the new steps leading into the sandpit – thank you Heath!

Prep Hearing Screening
To ensure children get the most out of their educational experience, our school offered the opportunity for each Prep child to participate in the Hear and Say Hearing Screening Program.
When children have undiagnosed hearing loss, it can affect their ability to learn to speak, understand language, thrive in a classroom, and interact with others. When children who have hearing loss are screened and diagnosed early, they can begin receiving treatment to improve their hearing or services that can help them learn to communicate. These early interventions can prevent delays in speech, language, cognitive, and social development.
This service was conducted by specialist Hear and Say Audiometrists. The screening took place on Friday 29th April. Thank you Miss Cathie (Head of Department - Curriculum) for organising this initiative.

ICT Asset Replacement
As part of our five-year ICT (Information Communication Technology) planning and budget schedule, we have recently replaced two interactive whiteboards in the middle school (Family B and H), four large screen televisions in each of our upper school classes (Family C, D and E) and one in our Student Engagement Unit. These large screens are used as part of our curriculum delivery in each learning space. The main advantages of these devices are to boost student engagement and accommodate different student learning styles. These purchases came directly from our school budget funds.
