Chevallum – The First 100 Years, tells the story of our school from only 12 students in a building built by parents in 1921, through to our modern school of 476 students in 2021. We hope you will enjoy reading about the development of our school and how it and the world has changed over 100 years. The book also contains a number of personal stories written by former students and staff from the 1920s, 1950’s, 1960’s, 1980’s and the 1990’s, which provide a window into the past.
Our Community of Learners
Our community of learners is at the heart of everything we do at Chevallum. We value the input of all our community members and encourage participation in school life to the fullest. Our school community brings together families from across the Sunshine Coast, who value the unique educational experience Chevallum offers.
Our P&C Association supports the school through their management of Café Chevallum and the Uniform Shop as well as WOOSH (Wonderful Outside School Hours Care). In addition the P&C stages our annual fundraising event “Strawbfest” - an amazing community occasion drawing people to our school from across the Sunshine Coast. Families are encouraged to volunteer to help in the Café, Uniform Shop and to help bring Strawbfest to life each year.
We also welcome family interaction and involvement in the education of our students, as we believe communication with families is vitally important as we share the educational journey with you.
