Become a Member of Our P&C in 2021.
Please remember to fill out the forms available via the Newsletter or in the P&C section of this webpage,  to become a member of the Chevallum State School P&C in 2021. A new form needs to be filled out every year.
Our P&C works better if we have input from a wide range of parents and community members. It’s a great way to meet new people and keep your finger on the pulse of all things Chevallum State School. Drop your completed forms to the office before the 25 March.

Nicklin Community Shield Award

Last year, the P&C once again showed our support for our community by contributing money towards the prize for the Nicklin Community Shield Award, which was awarded at Year 6 Graduation. Aurora was the proud recipient of the award in 2020 for her amazing contribution to helping the school and community.
Our State member Mr Robert Skelton assisted the Chevallum State School P&C by contributing money to cover most of the cost of the prize. This year the P&C members decided to award the winner with a $100 gift voucher and also make a $50 donation to a charity of their choice. Aurora asked for the $50 to be donated to the Malala Fund. The Malala Fund  has as a core committment - working for a world where every girl can learn and lead.

We asked Aurora to tell our community more about the Malala Fund and the reasons why she chose to donate to this amazing cause. Here are her words:
“The Malala Fund is a foundation that is close to my heart. Malala started the foundation because when she was younger she got shot in the head because she believed that all girls should get an education. The Malala fund helps to provide girls in third world countries with education in STEM but it overall helps girls get a good education.
This year at high school I am doing STEM and in a class of 30-40 students there are only eight girls. Malala is an advocate for girls education and she believes that girls belong in areas that are well known for being mostly driven by men. She believes that girls have a place and should not be told what subjects to study and what to do. I believe all of this which is why I chose to donate to the Malala fund.”

Well done Aurora for receiving the Nicklin Community Shield Award for 2020. Our school community is very proud of you!
