SUNSHINE COAST READERS’ CUP CHAMPIONS!!!
On Thursday 2 June, our Readers Cup team competed in the Sunshine Coast Regional Competition against 30 schools both state and private at Immanuel Lutheran College. Chevallum State School won the Regional Competition making them eligible for the State Finals held in Brisbane next term.
Our Readers Cup team is made up of our high performing upper school readers.
Chevallum has a long history of being Readers’ Cup success winning the Regional competition six times, winning State Finals in 2011 and being State final runner up on two occasions. How exciting to be going to the State Final again in 2022. Our school is very proud of our strong reading culture and cherishes this outstanding accomplishment.
Weeks of hard work went into the preparation stage. On the day the students did themselves very proudly with outstanding teamwork and their high level of skill. Well done! A huge thank you to Mr Barr and Miss Kerri for supporting our team along the way.
Now the hard work begins as the Chevallum Readers Cup State team – Nate, Mitch, Danae, Noah and Benaiah prepare for the state finals. The students will soon receive their new set of novels to begin the next phase of the competition and as always, they will remember to work as a team, have fun and enjoy the experience.
Thank you to the Qld Branch of the Children’s Book Council of Australia for organising Readers Cup.
