LIBRARY STAFF MEMBER HAS NEW BOOK PUBLISHED

Congratulations to Kerri Day our Library Teacher Aide who has had her second Picture Book published with Windy Hollow Books from Melbourne.

“Run Pups Run” portrays a family of children and their dogs, having a carefree, runaway day at the beach. It was inspired by happy childhood memories Kerri has of growing up on the Sunshine Coast.

She believes it is important to celebrate and embrace the playfulness of childhood and being in the moment. The book is an action picture book for Pre-Schoolers and Early Readers.

Her co-creator is talented and award-winning Illustrator Nicky Johnson. Kerri says she is very fortunate to be paired with such a wonderful illustrator and she loves that Picture Books are such a creative collaboration.

“Each child in the story has a pup by their side throughout the day. I love the way Nicky has drawn the pups. The colours and form of the illustrations suit the text perfectly and I am so happy with them, I adore them.”

Kerri says she wants “Run Pups Run” to be a joyful reading experience, just like a great day at the beach! Her first book “Beside the Sea”, illustrated by Jess Racklyeft was named a 2023 Notable Book Early Childhood by the Children’s Book Council of Australia and we wish her every success with this second publication.

BOOK RETURNS AND OVERDUE BOOKS
As the end of the year approaches, sorry it is sneaking up on us, we would like to remind families that all outstanding books must be returned before the end of the year.
Please start rounding up any books that may have got away and spent too many sleepovers at your house. You never know what you might find behind the lounge or under the bed!
Also, a reminder that there is no borrowing over the extended Christmas holiday break. Please visit the Sunshine Coast Libraries website to see the range of holiday activities they have planned. Local Libraries have excellent collections and also many free school holiday activities.
Returning outstanding books is essential for graduating students or any student who may be leaving us to attend a new school in 2023. If you have lost or damaged a book please let us know so we can contact you regarding replacement costs.

BORROWING FOR STUDENTS IN THE COMING WEEKS - as in previous years we will reduce student borrowing limits as the term winds down and then cease student borrowing before the end of term.
Students with any overdue items will not be borrowing as of this week
As of Monday November 6th, all students may only borrow 1 book
Last day of student borrowing Wednesday 22nd November
All books to be returned by Friday 24th November
Only Returns for the last two weeks of school
Thank you for your support and help in caring for and keeping track of our Library resources as we head towards the end of the year.
Regards
Scott Barr (Teacher Librarian)
