UNIFORM POLICY
Chevallum School takes pride in our uniform policy. We believe it creates a sense of belonging within our school community whilst being affordable for parents and practical for students.
Chevallum is a sun safe school with a ‘no hat, no play’ policy. Children’s clothing – particularly hats need to be clearly labelled.
Hats must be free of writing on the outside and brim kept straight. Shoes must be predominately black or white and closed in. Socks need to be either black or white. Our uniform policy has been endorsed by our P&C and our Uniform Shop is run as a P&C business.
The Early Years (Prep/Year 1) students uniform comprises of an Early Years’ painted polo shirt, black shorts/shirts/shorts and a broad brimmed school hat. (Black hat for Prep students and red hat for Year 1 students. Different coloured hats assist with safety at play times.)
When children participate in excursions or representative school occasions uniforms are compulsory. This is for safety reasons so that they can be easily identifiable when out of the school. The P&C is supportive of this approach and has endorsed the school dress code.
Labelling Uniforms
We cannot reiterate enough the need to label ALL of your children’s clothes, hats included.
There are a few spots to check when searching for a missing piece of uniform: the Lost Property Box outside the Staff room near the Office, the tub in the library and of course at your child’s classroom.
There is usually a basket or tub in each class and the library overflowing with hats, jumpers and all sorts of discarded clothing! Please see your child’s teacher.
