MISS KAYE’S PARTING GIFT
Our lovely retired Miss Kaye ‘slipped’ back into our school grounds last weekend, along with her husband Al and put the finishing touches to our new permaculture garden fence.

Miss Kaye started this community project whilst being our Visual Arts teacher during the later stages of 2020. This wonderful painted paneled fence was a collaborative effort of many children under Miss Kaye’s artistic guidance and flair. Miss Kaye may be retired but you can still find little ‘touches’ of her throughout our school.

ANNUAL IMPROVEMENT PLAN (AIP)
Chevallum State School’s main focus for improvement in 2021 will continue to be writing across all Learning Areas. Our school is implementing a school-wide model of best writing practice with an alignment of instructional strategies, assessment and feedback. We will continue to build student writing stamina and confidence through daily writing practice.

STUDENT LEADERS INVESTITURE PARADE
The Student Leader Investiture Parade was held this morning in the Lyn Winch Hall. The guests of honour were Mrs Jan Lawton and Mr Cec Rebetzke from the Rotary Club Woombye-Palmwoods and the Honourable Mr Rob Skelton, the elected member of our State Electorate of Nicklin. During this formal ceremony, our Year 6 leaders signed their student leadership contracts and received their badges. Our Early Act executive was also announced during the parade. A morning tea with Year 6 parents and students followed the formal proceedings.

EVERYDAY COMMUNICATION AND CLASSROOM PROTOCOLS
Quite often things arise that are very important to inform the teachers on the day or a situation that needs clarification. Prior to school starting (ie 8:35am) there is a small window to let the teacher know quick information but this is often a busy time particularly in the Prep/Year 1 classes. A phone call, email or visit into our Administration office to either provide the information or ask a teacher to phone back when convenient is advised.
Learning time is very precious and we ask this time to be uninterrupted by either face-to-face communication or phone calls being asked to be put through to the classroom. In an emergency situation ring administration first and we will ensure the information goes directly where it is needed. We thank you for your understanding in these matters.
Regards,
Linda Short (Principal)
