Dear Chevallum Family,
I hope this newsletter finds you well as we move closer to the middle of Term 3. I am excited to share some wonderful updates and developments happening in our classrooms and across our school community.
Visible Learning in Our Classrooms
We are making great strides with our Visible Learning initiatives! Our teachers are embracing strategies that help students understand what they are learning, why it is important, and how they can track their progress. This approach not only boosts student engagement but also fosters a sense of ownership over their learning journey. We encourage you to discuss these learning goals with your children at home and support their efforts as they develop a deeper understanding of their educational path.
Engaging Lunchtime Activities/Netball
Lunchtimes have become a hub of excitement and engagement thanks to the efforts of our staff. We have introduced a variety of fun and interactive activities designed to foster teamwork, creativity, and physical activity. Our staff members are actively involved in these activities, ensuring that every student feels included and has a positive and enjoyable lunchtime experience. We believe that these moments of engagement are crucial for building friendships and supporting overall well-being. Netball is also increasing in popularity thanks to all the supportive parents coaching and mentoring and preparing our upper years students for an upcoming carnival. We will have both male and female teams representing Chevallum SS. Thank you Mr Richie and Ms Sage, for your active involvement in making this happen.
Celebrating Success Through Positive Phone Calls
One of the highlights of our recent efforts is the positive feedback we’re receiving through our Principal Phone Call initiative. Teachers have been sharing their students’ successes with me, and I’ve had the pleasure of making phone calls to parents to celebrate these achievements. Hearing about your child’s progress and sharing in these joyous moments has been incredibly rewarding. We look forward to continuing this practice and celebrating more of our students' accomplishments throughout the remainder of the year.
Communication Survey and Newsletter Evolution
Following our recent survey it was very evident that parents appreciate the newsletter and rest assured that it will continue into the future. Over the next few Fridays, you will notice a one-page reminder of events for parents as this was the most valued contribution identified. This is NOT a replacement of the newsletter just an attempt to increase communication around events and celebrations. Any feedback about this is welcomed and it is one more job I can support with.
Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Together, we are creating a nurturing and dynamic learning environment where every student can flourish. If you have any questions or would like to discuss these initiatives further, please feel free to reach out to me or any member of our team.
