Welcome back for Term 3, the favourite term because we have BOOK WEEK and all the fun leading up to the parade.

DATE CLAIMER! BOOK WEEK 2024 - 19th–23rd August.

Theme: “Reading is magic” Character Dress Up Parade: Thursday 22nd August (Week 7)

The Book Week Character Parade is an important part of our Book Week Celebrations. As in previous years, we ask that students dress up as a book character from a favourite book or in keeping with the theme. Remember costumes are for fun and to embrace the spirit of the day, so families please don’t stress out too much over what your child will wear. Remember costumes should be sun-safe also.

The format of the Book Character Parade will be the same as last year, with children showcasing their Book Week costumes to their friends and family in class, before the walk around the green and the parade commencing in the Hall. More details about starting times etc. to follow.

Other activities and competitions leading up to and during Book Week will include: -

•      Our annual Friendship Photo wall

•      Colouring In Competition

•      Harry Potters Readers Cup – Week 6 Thursday 15th August

•      Storytime Corner

•      Poetry competition

•      Library Scavenger Hunt – Where is Wally this year & how many are there?

•      Voting for your favourite shortlisted Picture Book

Students will be given all the details during their library lessons in the lead up to Book Week and the newsletter will contain regular reminders as well.

We thank all our Chevallum families for supporting Book Week and encouraging a love of reading and raising great readers.

Regards, Scott Barr (Teacher Librarian)
