It was wonderful to see so many great costumes this year, they were very imaginative and creative. Thank you to the families for getting into the Book Week spirit each year and having fun with Dress Up Day, it really makes the day special for the students.
The teachers as always are to be commended for their enthusiasm for dressing up, it is always a good guessing game to wonder what the Teachers will come dress as each year.
The Theme this year was – Reading is Magic – and that really does sum up how reading can impact the life of children. A well written book can transport you to many different worlds of the past, present or future and then of course we have the exciting worlds of fantasy, magic, adventure and mystery.
This year during Book Week we had poetry, colouring in and Where’s Wally competitions, and there were some great detectives hunting Wally down all over the Library. Our Friendship Photos as always were very popular, and will go into our 2024 Book Week Album. The Harry Potter Readers Cup was a tough competition with teams that know an amazing amount about the boy wizard. The winning team – The Chamber of Weirdos were too good on the day and Eamonn, Kyla and Sebastian took home the Harry Potter Readers Cup Medals for 2024.
A big thank you to our Book Covering parents, Kerri Tant, Jill Hart, Tamie Kacprzak, Kate and Jon Bolam for helping to cover hundreds of new readers this Term. Without your help we wouldn't be able to get them covered so quickly. The readers were bought with funds provided by the P&C so thank you very much to the P&C and also to the school community who support the P&C fundraising activities. Because of our supportive parents our students will be able to find the magic of reading in these new books.
Once again thank you to all the students for your great costumes and to all the parents and teachers who support Book Week so well each year, we certainly love books at Chevallum and really do enjoy the magic of books and reading each day.
Regards,
Scott Barr (Teacher Librarian)
