Dear Chevallum Community,

Welcome back to all our Chevallum students and families, and a special welcome to the new families joining us this year. This is our first official newsletter and we are excited to have started the year with 20 classes (10 family groupings) and are grateful to our staff and parents for their efforts in ensuring our students are ready for school. As a school community, we will continue to uphold high standards in key areas such as teaching and learning, behaviour, and attendance.

This year, our school will focus on Equity and Excellence, ensuring we unlock the full potential of every student. Class teachers have already held our ‘Meet the Teacher’ nights with a remarkable attendance. If you have any questions, concerns or ideas please see the appropriate teacher(s) immediately so that we can work as a team.

For open communication, please contact your child’s class teacher first. The Leadership Team is also available for support. The Leadership Team includes: Craig Hazen – Principal, April Persini – Deputy Principal, Sandi Smith – Deputy Inclusion (shared amongst 4 schools) Karen Back – Head of Curriculum.

Our vision statement, “Individuals Learning Together,” embodies the sense of “family” that defines the Chevallum School community. It is a community where students, parents, and staff form an active partnership in lifelong learning, built on support, respect, effective communication, and a strong sense of safety - foundations for our academic, social, and emotional growth.
We value communication with our families. Our formal newsletters will be sent Week 4 and Week 8 each term with weekly updates being sent by classroom teams and leadership.

It is with great pride and excitement that our new school leaders for 2025 were introduced to the school community at a recent special parade.
These outstanding students have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and a commitment to upholding the values of our school. As we look ahead to a successful year, we know that their dedication and hard work will help guide our school community toward achieving even greater things.

We are confident that, under their leadership, Chevallum State School will continue to grow and thrive, fostering a positive, inclusive environment for all students.
Please join me in congratulating and supporting our new leaders as they step into their roles. We look forward to a year filled with achievement, collaboration, and progress.
Here's to a fantastic year ahead!
Craig Hazen (Principal)
