National Tree Day

National Tree Day
Chevallum students celebrated National Tree Day a week early by planting more than 40 native plants.

The Environmental Leaders wanted to create a garden that would provide habitat for local native species such as the endangered Richmond Birdwing Butterfly.

They were concerned about the trees removed in recent highway roadworks and the impacts on local wildlife. Nadia Joyce from the Sunshine Coast Council assisted students to select suitable plants for the site and helped the students with planting activities. We appreciate the Council's donation of the plants for our garden. The garden can be found next to Cafe C at the front of the school. The students look forward to watching the plants grow and adding information about the plants in the garden.
