STRAWBERRY PARTNERSHIPS

Last week, the Strawbfest Committee met with Queensland Strawberry Growers Association representative, Jane Ritcher, to ensure that Strawbfest is aligning with the positive promotion of supporting our local strawberry growers who are still recovering from the aftermath of last year’s tampering incidents. Strawbfest is the only local event, North of Brisbane, which has strawberries at the heart of their celebrations. We are in a very privileged position of having a partnership with a local Strawberry grower who is kindly donating strawberries for our strawberry products and fresh strawberries closer to the night. However, as they are a commercial grower and they do not sell directly to the public we are unable to direct our Chevallum families to purchase from their farm.
It is more important that as a school community, we buy strawberries from retailers or directly from PYO farms to help the strawberry growers ‘get back on their feet’.
ONLINE SCHOOL OPINION SURVEYS
Today you will receive a letter via your eldest child at Chevallum State School alerting you to the Parent/Caregiver School Opinion Survey 2019 being open. The survey is available until 23 August. Participation in the survey is voluntary but we do value your feedback as a school and encourage as many parents as possible to take the time (approx 10 minutes) to complete it. The more surveys completed the more valid the feedback.
