Extra Curricular Happenings

Student Leadership
The main focus on student leadership at Chevallum State School is to foster self-esteem, cooperation and responsibility. Having strong leadership skills and knowledge develops a positive environment within our whole school community. Soon the Year 6s will begin work on graduation speeches as they think about transitioning into high school and our Year 5s will begin contemplating applying for leadership positions in 2019.

Family K Thinking Play Culminating Event
On Monday afternoon 12 November, Family K celebrated their learning with their culmination event ‘Our World, Our Future’. This unit explored Citizenship and Creative Thinking in a context of sustainability.

The class looked at how they can change their ways to make the world a better place. Students focussed on the four areas of ocean pollution, habitat destruction, sunshine foods and reducing, reusing and recycling.
Students began their learning journey by investigating how Indigenous Australians lived and their relationship with the environment and compared this to how we live today.

Family J Sleepover
Family J Year Ones on Thursday 8 November slept over in their classroom as part of a ‘camping’ experience. The children participated in night time activities including an animal spotting adventure through the school. The event concluded with a healthy breakfast to start the next school day.
